Переглядів 4,9 млнРік тому
Cutting your inside baseboard corners at 45 degrees won't give you a great finished project. Most likely you'll have large gaps in the joints. Instead, you'll want to COPE the baseboards. Here is the process for accomplishing that.

HOW TO CUT & INSTALL BASEBOARD RETURN

How to cut and install a baseboard return
Or measure the angle and do 180 - angle /2
Well, you could box out the joist to the neighboring joists then cut a hole for your can light. It does greatly increase the scope of the project though.
I know we can all pick apart other contractors and talk trash, but in reality, his method works. I dont see making much money with a slow process when trim prices in the south are around $1.20sqf. You have to be in highend homes to demand more money for a slower, better method. If a 1400 to 1600sqf home takes more than 2 to 3 days, you're losing money down here. Even painting prices have bottomed out. It's the illegals bringing the $$ down. Buddy of mine went to bid a job and was told if he was higher than $.90sqf he wouldn't get it. Had a crew out of Texas ruining prices here in town.
That looks ugly. That’s not leveling up. You should’ve mitered return it.
giga
Brilliant!! Ty
clearly a gap at the end...
Yes, coping is great when you have super basic boring baseboards. The second you go into anything more complicated than the boring baseboard you're showing, coping takes F O R E V E R. Especially when you're trimming an entire house. Just get a miter protractor and use big stretch caulk and nobody will see the difference.
If you’re using flat boards for base boards that don’t have any routing would you still cope the 45s?
I saw that gap on the right 👀
The 45° cut looks better than the cope there. The seam is straight on the two 45s joining. If it's getting painted it needs caulking anyway and it won't make a bit of difference at all unless the angle is cut so off that there's a huge gap. In that case use an angle finder and find angle then divide by 2 to get saw angle setting. To each their own though. Each way has its uses.
How to over complicate and over think a solution.
Grinder over kill get a jigsaw caulk the imperfections they don’t pay us enough
Almost perfect.
Absolutely trash finish. That’s what coping saws are for, you need to scribe the pattern onto the other board then cut it out. You used an angle grinder and achieved a finish no better than the original mitre you cut.
Doo fuss
Theres a for getting the right angle on it
Should’ve tried a floating shelf.
Cause your obsessive compulsive
What grit on the flap disc? 80?
Smooth move god dammit😮
The hack brigade needs to stay off yt
This is dumb, get a adjustable square and do it in 1 cut
No. Cut the 45 first, measure, THEN cope if it's a good cope, cut length. What do you do if you have a bad cope your way? Cut another full piece?
Or if you’re a professional, get a coping saw.
Didn't he ever hear of painters caulk?
Safe assumption to say that this dude is NOT a paid contractor and a DIYer working on his own home. If he was a contractor, he would adjust his miter saw to somewhere around 45 degrees and hurry up and cut/install all baseboard pieces. And if you paid him in full, he would be gone. If you still owed him money, he would come back with a harsh caulking job
Yeah but it hardens in that tube and unusable later
Waste of time sir.
DAP "Hold my beer"
It is appalling that items like such cost so much. We just want to make our homes more appealing and increase in value, don't bleed us dry. 🤣
Measure after you’ve cut your cope or you’ll end up 25mm short as he did 🎉
🤢
Caulk
Can I see the receipt? Cuz in Canada that would cost at least $4.75 +pst&gst which is $5.32 so if your in canada which you must be because we are not allowed to watch foreign content so I gotta call B.S on the 3 bucks sheesh! False adverting eh!
That was awesome 👌
Just go to Home Depot all there wood looks like shit
Looks like shit, get a coping saw.
Have you ever heard of a coping saw
Wasn’t perfect
This is a dick way of doing it . Ill let you into a little secret . Even when you do it his way like he shows he still ends up with massive gaps at the top behind the board to the wall . So always cut a 45 and mitre stick the joint together and no more nails the board to the wall . Then fill the gaps between the wLl and the board this way you wont have to fuck about like he just showed you .
I learned that from my grandfather and my father that’s the only way to do it right, the ceilings are done the same way but upside down and backwards, yea figure that one out….They built Million Dollar homes in Dallas….
Just 40caulk it
Or u could just find the proper angle
Me. Tryna decide if i can afford ramen this month, lookin at my walls wondering if they even need a base board
Genius!!
I agree that word of mouth is effective. But his point about using the deposit for their last job and expecting the home owner to buy materials up front is something I’d stay away from. I worked for a guy who was doing this and I had no idea. He screwed over so many people. After I quit I went back to the last few jobs, apologized , gave them my card and offered to finish or fix his mistakes and gave them a really good deal to earn their business. Since then I’ve used word of mouth and a lot of them stemmed from the original few people I went back to help. If I give my cards out or advertise I wouldn’t be able to keep up. Referrals only for my business.
How does one cut for an outside corner?
Thank you
Looks dog shit
